When spanish paper AS, asked Ferrari driver and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to give is opinions about his closest rivals, he had fascinating insights into how he rates them...




On Sebastian Vettel: ''Very fast and accurate. If he starts first in a race it is difficult to stop him.''

Mark Webber, who finished third in the last year's Drivers' Championship, ''Experienced, calm and consistent. It is very difficult to see him fail.''

Alonso believes his former McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton is ''a great driver and the fastest of the current Formula One grid'' while Jenson Button ''Has a great instinct for difficult races in the rain or with the safety car. This is a unique talent''.


As for Michael Schumacher, Alonso says ''He is the champion, we all respect him and he is a driver always capable of surprising''.

And his views on his team-mate Felipe Massa? ''Very quick, he started with Sauber, but is now with Ferrari and very hungry to win''.

Alonso talks about himself saying he is glad to see the admiration he receives from all around the world. Marveled at last week's Jerez test, ''30,000 people came to a test to see me'' he said.
