A week from today, on February 18 and 19, The
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is gearing up for its maiden major international event of the year - the second round of the GP2 Asia Series.
The second round will be supported by a pair of the region's most popular and professionally run series - the WGA Chevrolet Super-cars Championship Middle East and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East.
GP2 Asia has become as important as its original counterpart. It has helped the rise of several Asian drivers into the F1, and it has also helped spark the rapid development of motor racing in the region.

The 2011 championship is being held solely in the Middle East, this depicts the Arab World's growing importance in motor sports. It also helps limit costs for the championship and for teams throughout their entire campaign.
The championship flags off at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on February 11 and 12. Followed by the upcoming round held in Bahrain next week. The season finale will also take place at the Bahrain International Circuit, scheduled on March 11 to 13, and will act as a support race to the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix.
